One Missed Call from God

My friend, do you ever feel like you’re completely stuck in a “rat maze” chasing your own tail, feeling stuck, burnt out, and lifeless on the hamster wheel of life? If so, this one’s for you…

I recently had a breakthrough when the thought occurred to me that my life is SO beyond me and my control, vision, feelings, circumstances, and what I can see or understand. The truth is that God is working behind the scenes as we speak.

Image result for on the hamster wheel of lifeGod truly has a unique purpose and plan for each one of us but SO often we run around trying to figure it out on our own. We try to control our situation without going to the Source of our comfort, our own personal “Life Coach,” Jesus!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5, 6 (NIV)

We get so busy and wrapped up in our own world that we cannot see what God is doing on our behalf. We stick ourselves in our own personal box with our limited knowledge and insight. We so often are anxious about the future or judging ourselves based on our past mistakes; missing out on God’s gifts in the present moment. We start playing the victim and just live apathetic lives looking for the next weekend or vacation to make our life more bearable.

For some of us, it’s almost as if we’ve been programmed to stay stuck in our life and the root of it is often negative thinking with no vision or creativity to pull ourselves up to a better existence.

My friend, God has heard our desperate cries of our hearts in our prayers and He sees when we run right back to the chaos of our out of control lives instead of STOP, get this, ACTUALLY LISTENING!! Often times, God allows things like joblessness, sickness, and disappointment to slow us down so He can try to reach us in our moment of weakness. It is in our weakness that His power and grace is sufficient!

God is still good and in control despite how we feel at any given time! His power, grace, and goodness is NOT contingent on how we feel!

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

So often though we miss His purpose in our situation because we don’t know how to stay silent and still long enough to seek His voice for direction and peace. The truth though is that He’s working and moving behind the scenes as we wait for Him to reveal the answer to usGod is preparing a way despite what we can see or understand in the present moment.

“For your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” – Matthew 6:8b (NIV)

The only thing we can control is getting on our knees to be still, to listen, and seek Him without running to tackle the next thing. Just being busy doesn’t mean we’re being productive. Sometimes less is more. Have you ever noticed that God isn’t in a hurry? Yeah, me too …. and it drives me nuts sometimes too! Ha!!

What if the way we have been programmed by society to hurry to the next thing and task to accomplish is all just a big distraction as we push God into the background of our “to do list” and into the compartmentalized area of our minds?

What if we’re on to something big when we take the time to stop, listen, be still, & be present in prayer?

What if doing this will get us where we hope to go so much faster and with far more peace, because it’s based on embracing God’s everlasting, unexplainable peace?

Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6, 7

If you’re here right now, I can so relate because for most of my life I have run to things to escape and fill me because I have been living a quiet life of desperation. So often I have had very limited vision, goals, and have lived with a very small purpose for so long that has allowed some vices, bad habits, negative thought patterns, and “escapes” to creep in to try and substitute the pain of having no vision. For years I felt so lost and empty and going through the motions of my life looking for “escapes” and “feel goods” to numb the lingering pain of failure and apathy inside. Can you relate to this?

I wonder how different our lives would look if we were living our purpose on a mission rather than just getting by and reaching for temporary “fill ins?” … Insert your own personal escape or “drug of choice” here ______, right?

It is imperative that our lives have goals, direction, purpose, and vision, or we can so easily get lost in apathy and wander through life picking up temporary things to try and fill the void. We must seek God to reveal our purpose to us. Oh, He’s working and has been for a very long time even if you can’t see the whole picture of your purpose yet.

So often it’s the very place we’ve needed to grow the most or the place that has cost us our greatest pain. God is like a surgeon, operating on that “dark place” of our lives so He can heal us and then use our struggle in that area to help others!

To be truly healthy, we must be living our lives with a vision, purpose, goals, and a passion to pursue. With Jesus Christ at the helm of our own personal ship, we will get there. We must stop to look and listen to His coaching though so as to not end right back up amongst the “rocks” of life that serve as distractions to get us away from the lingering desperate feeling of being lost in life that so often leads to depression and apathy.

Have you substituted “feel good’s,” “escapes,” and “drugs of choice” out of desperation to numb the lost feelings of a man living life apart from knowing and living on purpose?

If so, it’s time to take back control of your life! Get on your knees, get your prayer journal out, talk to God, and stay still until He impresses something on your heart. Then, go get a Life Coach and formulate awareness and a game plan for your life! Your life is such a precious commodity to waste and you were made to live a much more fulfilling existence, my friend! It’s time to make the most of your life! It’s never too late to start today. It’s time to step out of your helpless, victimized state of being and choose to reach your full potential after all! Put one foot in front of the other and take one small step at a time! The first step is often the hardest! Let’s go!!

Sincerely, with all of God’s Love for You,

Jeremy D. Pestor

** If you’re really struggling for a roadmap in your life and feel completely lost, I suggest getting a Life Coach. I used the program called “Identity and Destiny.” I highly recommend it! You can check it out the program here or contact me and I can introduce you to someone who can help you.
